Appian Technology launch Sentinel covert ANPR

14 December 2004

Talon Sentinel is a compact ruggedized ANPR hardware system that can be remotely deployed and left unattended. Featuring a powerful Pentium M processor, the system can support up to four ANPR cameras or a combination of ANPR and image capture cameras, enabling the monitoring of high speed, high density traffic.

In hibernation mode passing vehicles trigger the system to wake up, recognise and record number plates then send passing vehicle VRM details by SMS ‘hot list’ messaging and MPEG videos by email. Multiple battery packs enable the Sentinel platform to left unattended for days at a time; alternatively the system can use mains or vehicle power supplies.

The Sentinel platform has wireless GSM/GPRS communications and can receive live updates from compliant BOF systems.

The platform is deployed and set up in a matter of minutes using the built in monitor and GUI.  Sentinel is designed to run Talon SP ANPR software and additional Talon application software such the Spectrum and Sentry applications.

Sentinel can be buried for extended periods for operations where the risk of compromise is high. The casing offers total protection for the internal PC – watertight to IP-67 (Ingress Protection), airtight and dustproof.
