Major UK Police Order - £271,000 City Centre ANPR system
03 August 2005
Appian Technology plc, provider of Automatic Number Plate Recognition systems ('ANPR') and traffic management products and solutions, has won a GBP271,000 order to equip a major West Country city centre with its Talon ANPR technology. The Company has already installed Talon in other cities in the region and expects to receive further contracts as its relationships with the police and local authorities develop. Talon will be integrated into the city's existing CCTV system, providing the police and local authorities with a powerful crime fighting tool.Talon reads the number plates of vehicles entering towns and cities on major routes and is able to identify in real time suspicious vehicles likely to be of interest to the police. These include stolen vehicles or those with information linking them to a crime.
Appian Chairman Pat Ryan said: "Our sales team is performing extremely well and I am delighted to have won this important order. With over 400 local authority CCTV systems in the UK alone, equipping urban areas with ANPR technology is a large and growing market for the Company. The marriage of Talon to existing CCTV networks has had made a significant impact on the fight against crime. As a result, we are building a strong profile with the police and local authorities, across the UK. "Furthermore, the fight against terrorism has also intensified. Consequently, we have received increased levels of enquiries for cities looking to have a premier surveillance system that has extremely high recognition rates."Newsletter
