Counter terrorist 'Ring of Steel' ANPR order win - following successful trials of new long range camera technology.
26 November 2005
Appian Technology plc the provider of Automatic Number Plate Recognition systems ('ANPR') and traffic management products and solutions, has won a contract, worth GBP180,000, to supply one the UK's largest police forces with its Talon ANPR technology.
The contract involves a number of high profile government sites being protected with Appian's Talon ANPR system, together with its long range license plate reading camera, ISTAR, installed in a `ring of steel' defensive layout. These cameras are connected to Appian's plate reading computers, which will cross reference license plates against a number of intelligence and police databases.
Appian has significant experience in dealing with secure/sensitive sites and organisations. This order consolidates the Company's status as a key supplier to the security services. The order was won through a competitive 'shoot out' against other solution providers, due to the high performance of Talon and the unique capability of the long range plate reading cameras. The Long Range ISTAR can read vehicle plates at ranges in excess of 60 metres.Newsletter
