Appian Technology to Install ANPR system in Chester City Centre - £90,000 order win

14 December 2005

Appian Technology plc has won a £90,000 order to equip Chester City Centre with its Talon ANPR technology (`Talon'). Another key UK city has selected the Talon ANPR system.

Contracted by Cheshire Constabulary, Talon will be integrated into the City's existing CCTV system and will read vehicle license plates day and night in the most demanding conditions.

During an eight week trial period of Talon, Chester Constabulary reported a 30% reduction in burglaries. Furthermore, Talon is currently being installed around a strategic motorway junction in the Chester area. Additionally, another significant city in the South of England is also installing the system.

As security issues are becoming increasingly highlighted, police forces are looking for high tech solutions to help them combat both crime and terrorism. As shown by the increased number of orders which we have recently received, including the British Transport Police, winning a competitive tender to supply the Thames Valley Police, an order to supply one of the largest UK police forces and a competitive international tender to supply Mexico City's police force, Appian is becoming the provider of choice for such solutions.
