PANASONIC teams up with NDI-RS to offer a high quality ANPR solution on Toughbooks
20 May 2009
Maidenhead , Berkshire, (8th May, 2009) - Panasonic Computer Products Europe , the manufacturer of Panasonic Toughbook® mobile computers, and NDI Recognition Systems Ltd (NDI-RS), the leading ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) provider, announce a strategic partnership to offer the Talon™ ANPR software engine on the Panasonic Toughbook ruggedised computers for the law enforcement, emergency services and security community in the UK.
The Panasonic Toughbook adds yet another quality application to the NDI-RS mobile data solution with undeniable benefits to the end user. ANPR plays a major role in the mobile data technology field where accuracy and high quality products are of crucial importance. NDI Recognition Systems, the leading supplier to the Police Service and Law Enforcement community globally, was chosen to provide a high accuracy and high specification mobile ANPR engine for the Toughbook solution.
With the ANPR software embedded in a Toughbook the ANPR engine Talon is configured with the cameras that capture the plates which are typically mounted internally or externally on a vehicle. The live video feed from the cameras is passed directly through to the ruggedized Toughbook computer mounted on a docking station on the vehicle dashboard. Specifically designed for ‘in car’ ANPR and installed on the Panasonic Toughbook the Talon ANPR applications called ‘SpeedPlate’ and ‘VeriPlate’ provide users with an array of mobile ANPR benefits. The NDI-RS ANPR software and cameras can be easily controlled by the operator through the user interface on the Toughbook. The intuitive software, large buttons and font, enable the operator to manage the ANPR process effectively and without frustration in a moving vehicle.
Successfully used for ANPR solutions in the United States of America, Toughbook is proving to be a success in the UK markets. The de-mounting capability, ultra high quality and ruggedised design of a Toughbook provides an additional benefit to the ANPR operators.
‘’ ANPR is a very important crime denying tool used within the Police Service and wider Law Enforcement community. The Panasonic Toughbook and NDI-RS Talon SpeedPlate and VeriPlate ANPR solution, will undeniably provide an ultra-reliable and high quality product to our customers,’’ said Adrian Cadd, Head of Sales and Marketing, NDI Recognition Systems. ‘’ The combination of Panasonic’s Toughbook durability, reliability and high specification and the Talon ANPR engine’s high recognition accuracy and speed , will increase results and performance for our customers. NDI-RS is very happy to add another offering for a mobile ANPR technology to its current ANPR solutions.’’
