Mobile
The Talon Mobile ANPR system is designed for use in 'on the move' mobile police patrolling, giving commanders and users the flexibility and operational 'reach' to get into areas that are beyond the scope of static ANPR systems. In addition the system can be operated when the vehicle is stationary and parked by the highway or at roadblocks and checkpoints. Using Talon SP ANPR software, the mobile ANPR system is capable of simultaneously processing number plates from 4 ANPR cameras.
Touch Screen
This is where the officer controls and operates the mobile system; it is the main user interface with the system. It is located in the front of the vehicle and connected to the PC Hardware normally located in the boot, or trunk, of the Vehicle.
Software
A typical mobile system comprises of the core Talon SP recognition engine used for the plate recognition process. The user controls and operates the system using Spectrum application software, allowing local and national databases to be interrogated based on the plate read for detection and identification of stolen and wanted vehicles. This software is loaded onto the processor PC hardware.
A number of different types of hot list can be used, namely:-- User created databases for tasks such as car park management
- PNC Extract - an extract of all vehicles of interest from the Police National Computer.
- Local Hot lists - Hot lists of up to 50,000 entries can be created, edited and imported.
- Bulk-loaded Hot lists - large Hot lists of more than 50,000 entries can be imported.
Talon Imaging software can also be installed which allows wide field of view colour images of vehicles matched to the plate read to be captured and stored. A unique signature is written into each image for enforcement purposes.
Connectivity
A Talon Mobile system can also be connected to a remote hot list database (e.g. the Police National Computer) and perform live checks for each plate against the remote database. This connection can use an arbitrary barer, e.g. a GSM/GPRS/WIFI modem.
If a GSM/GPRS modem is fitted, the system can send SMS pager messages for each hot list hit. The GSM modem can also be used to provide over-the-air updates to the hot list databases.
Hardware
The Talon Mobile hardware platform is a powerful PC designed to be permanently installed and operated in vehicles. Using Talon SP ANPR software, the platform is capable of simultaneously processing number plates from 4 ANPR cameras.
Cameras
The Cobra Image Capture System has been designed to read vehicle license plates day and night in the most demanding conditions. These are mounted externally on roof or light bars. A Talon mobile system can use multiple Cobra ANPR cameras covering arcs of vision around the vehicle. This allows the operator to recognise number plates of passing vehicles and vehicles that he is overtaking. The talon systems can also use existing on board colour cameras for recognition and imaging.
